On a more personal note, I wanted to share a beautiful event that recently took place in my life. My best friend Melanie will be tying the knot to her beau Alex this coming March, and what not a better way to celebrate with a bridal shower!
Of course when Melanie asked me to be her Matron of Honor, I knew that out of all of the events (with of course the exception of the wedding) the bridal shower would be my absolute favorite to help plan. I knew when finding a bridal shower invite that I just adored several months back that featured pink and white roses with touches of champagne gold, it would be the theme for Melanie’s special day.
With invites sent out to Melanie’s closest girlfriends and family, it was time to begin planning. Keeping it tapas style, the menu included mini pancake stacks adorned with a raspberry, mini mushroom and cheddar cheese quiche, champagne flute organic vanilla parfaits topped with granola and a strawberry flower, and a delicious Jewish style bagel bar provided by Melanie’s Maid of Honor Cady. Of course what is a celebration without champagne, which was incorporated through a “Bubbly Bar” that featured fresh orange, grapefruit, and cranberry juice, along with peach, raspberry, and blackberry garnishes.
Our dessert menu was just as delicious that centered on the theme, “Gimmie Some Sugar.” A candy bar featuring cupcake flavored Hersey kisses, white chocolate Reece’s cups, strawberry blow pops, and pink M&Ms were the perfect party favor. However as much as I loved the candy bar, I just loved the yummy cupcakes Michael Strachwsky from Bake Me A Cake created for me in the flavors of rum and grenadine.
As guests arrived, they received a mini gold glitter clothespin to play the “do not say” game where you could not mention “wedding” or “Alex.” Of course Melanie lost her pin almost immediately hehe. Instead of a traditional sign in book, we opted for a non-traditional sign in of guests leaving their name and a date idea on glittery gold popsicle sticks.
Before diving into presents, Cady planned out a game called the “Gum Game,” where Melanie had to chew an additional piece of gum for every answer she got wrong based on questions Cady had asked Alex beforehand. Needless to say it was clear as day after only having to eat a few pieces, that Melanie and Alex knew almost everything there was to know about one another – especially that Melanie loves coffee and relaxing baths hehe.
While opening her gifts, guests played along with “Bridal Bingo” by placing a gold heart sticker on the bingo square of the gift she received. I first saw the game and played myself at my dear friend Kim’s house when she hosted her daughter’s baby shower. It was an absolute blast and the perfect way for everyone to enjoy the gift giving. As luck may have it, Alex’s mom Daisy won the special surprise a floral bouquet arrangement after yelling “bingo” before anyone else. I must say I was very happy she won!
With gifts and bingo wrapped up, we headed back to the kitchen to enjoy Bake Me A Cake’s delicious cupcakes and a nice cup of coffee. Jessica, Melanie’s soon to be sister in law, was on a roll collecting clothespins from everyone who said “Alex” or “wedding,” but after Jaci, Melanie’s mom, hearing me say “wedding” on accident, she slid in at the end for the win.
Our day ended with coffee talk and of course a quick group picture outside. Looking forward to celebrating our lovely bride this coming March!
