Heather McMillen and her hubby to be Jon Sandusky celebrated their upcoming wedding with a gorgeous engagement shoot at Lake Eola in Orlando, Florida. When we were first brainstorming of the perfect location, Heather had to think of what represented her and Jon the most. She knew that Lake Eola would be perfect as the two bike their often on the weekends and at night to walk around the lake and feed the swans. Lake Eola is definitely a must see when visiting Orlando. It truly captures what our beautiful city has to offer from showing off the beauty of our wildlife to the grand buildings towering over.
The two actually met in Jacksonville, North Carolina at a mutual friend’s birthday dinner party. Heather was visiting to celebrate, but had actually just moved back to her hometown of Orlando. Jon was living in Jacksonville at the time as a Marine on active duty. Their time together at the party was incredible. Both got along perfectly and had similar interests, plans for their future, and of course great friends. Unfortunately after the party ended it was the last Heather thought she would see of Jon, but her friend Dana Cronkhite who noticed how perfectly they looked together thought otherwise. During another trip back to visit, Dana planned out a date between Heather and Jon, but didn’t let either one of them know!
Both were in complete shock and not interested in a long distance relationship. However, they were interested in one another, which won out in the long run. Talking as friends, led to dating, and to Jon moving to Orlando.
On June 13th of 2014, Jon popped the big question at Eddie V’s restaurant in the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando. Jon had planned out an amazing evening at a gorgeous restaurant for his special girl. After ordering appetizers Jon started snapping tons of pictures on his phone of the restaurant, which needless to say is very unlike him (he doesn’t even know his Facebook password anymore!). As their waitress passed by he asked her if she could snap a quick picture of the two of them. Unbeknownst to Heather, he had the ring hidden in his sock, yes his sock, and as he came around to the side of the table by Heather he dropped to one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked for her hand in marriage. Everyone in the restaurant stopped in awe, and in that moment Heather knew that she had finally found the man of her dreams. Looking forward to capturing these two tie the knot in August!
