The Moyer family had a very special gift this holiday season, the birth of their darling daughter Anastasia. Big sister Alyana couldn’t have had Santa bring her a better present for Christmas and mommy Brittany and daddy Chris are totally in awe by the relationship that has already been built between the sisters.
You may remember Brittany and Chris from their wedding at the stunning Bella Collina in Montverde, Florida. The two tied the knot among friends and family at the Tuscany estate back in June. Keeping in touch with my sweethearts, I feel so fortunate that they asked me to capture so a momentous occasion in their lives – the welcoming of baby Anastasia for her newborn portraits.
Brittany imagined an at home session that had more of a natural vibe with little Anastasia laying with her sister Alyana and also capturing her sleeping in her crib. Her vision was the perfect match to my style and I couldn’t wait to finally see my sweet family again.
Upon arriving, little Alyana greeted me at the door with the biggest smile. I swear (and told this to Brittany a trillion times and over) Alyana looked like she had just stepped out of an Old Navy magazine! My little model was ready for her close ups and while baby Anastasia took some time for breakfast, we took a moment to capture Alyana in her tent. Reading to daddy and cheesing for the camera, Alyana sat under the tent her dad made her. That twinkle in her eye and little smile back at the camera flowed through our entire session.
Asking Brittany about how Alyana had been doing since becoming a big sister, I found out that she absolutely loves it. From taking care of her to helping put things away like diapers and bottles, Alyana has really taken to being a big sister for baby Anastasia.
After time under the tent reading books from Alyana’s library, we headed to Anastasia’s room for some pictures of the girls lying down together on a furry throw. Anastasia lasted a few minutes before wanting her mommy, but the few images we captured are just too cute for words. Some of my favorite photos though from our session are of Brittany lying with Anastasia just looking into the eyes of her daughter. Truly a beautiful moment.
When asking Brittany about her birth, I was in complete surprise… Anastasia was a home birth! Brittany explained that her and Chris chose a home birth because they “believe in having a choice in how you deliver and a hospital limits those choices most of the time.” Delivered at home, Anastasia was both the happiest and healthiest little baby. As parents Brittany and Chris looking forward to watching the girls grow into good people and seeing the milestones that take place.
Truly a beautiful time, I can’t wait to see the Moyer family again soon! A big congratulations to the whole family on welcoming their second little one to the world!
