Amber and Rhode met me out at the beautiful Cypress Grove Estate House at Cypress Grove Park for an oak and mossy filled nature setting. Rhode’s little one Braydon also tagged along to join in on the fun for a few family pictures for the holidays.
Back in November of 2012, Amber and Rhode met through a mutual friend on the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77). With work taking up the majority of their time, it took a little bit to form a friendship. After a year of working with one another they began to count on one another and became closer. About another year later in 2014 during their ships deployment, the two made it official with an official first date. Not long after on January 9th of 2015 Rhode proposed to Amber, but more their proposal later!
It is crazy to think how a chance meeting through a mutual friend could lead to the beginning of a beautiful friendship and stunning romance. Rode quickly fell in love with Amber’s “willingness to do something for anyone that needs it.” Amber also won the way to Rhode’s heart through her amazing cooking as well! Amber loves how “level headed” Rhode is and that he truly finds the beauty in every person he meets. Truly as Amber explains, “just being there” for her is the most amazing characteristic.
Rhode’s proposal to Amber was beautiful – he planned for a nice dinner at their favorite French restaurant followed by a day of vineyard touring and wine tasting. Unfortunately things didn’t quite go to plan, but Rhode rolled with the punches… the night of their dinner, Amber asked for Rhode to cook for her instead at home and the next day Amber just wanted to stay at home as well instead of heading to Williamsburg for the winery tour so that they could have time to go shopping for the dinner they were hosting that night with their friends. Rhode didn’t want Amber to catch on and on a spur of the moment as they were about to head to the grocery store to grab dinner items, Rhode bent down on one knee and asked for Amber’s hand in marriage. As Amber remembers it, “he took the ring out of his pocket and honestly I don’t remember what he said, because I was so shocked! I kissed him and hugged him and said, “are you serious?!” and then made him get up.” Of course Rhode wanted an official answer before standing up, “umm you haven’t said yes?” Amber of course said “yes!”
The holidays were such a magical time. Being able to spend time with Braydon and making memories that they will never forget it was family time is all about. Looking forward to capturing these two tie the knot at the beautiful Timacuan Golf Club this March!
