Amber and Rhode tied the knot during their Timacuan Golf Club wedding in Lake Mary, Florida. Guests traveled in from across the country to witness the two make a beautiful commitment to one another and to celebrate all night with the now official Mr. and Mrs. McPherson.
Our sweethearts story began back in November of 2012. Both working on the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), they spent most of their time busy with their careers. Fortunately, as luck may have it, a mutual friend introduced them and their friendship began. After about a year of being best of friends, they realized there was undeniable spark between them. In 2014 they made their relationship official, but Rhode knew a proposal was not long behind. He had fallen in love with the girl of his dreams and could not imagine anyone else being his wife.
Planning out a beautiful night at their favorite French dinner followed by vineyard touring the next day, Rhode knew his engagement would be absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite as planned. Upon asking Amber out on the incredible date he had planned, she asked him to just cook at home for her instead. Rolling with the punches, Rhode made a beautiful dinner, but knew that the next day would be absolutely amazing. Well when the next day of vineyard wine touring came, Amber asked to stay at home and snuggle up for the day instead. Wanting Rhode all to herself for the day and later planning dinner with friends, Rhode knew that it was now or never. Spending the day together was amazing and before the two headed out to go shopping for dinner, Rhode bent down on one knee and asked for Amber’s hand in marriage. Worried she would catch on before the night ended, he knew that the imperfect time was nothing but perfect. As Amber remembers it, “he took the ring out of his pocket and honestly I don’t remember what he said, because I was so shocked! I kissed him and hugged him and said, “are you serious?!” and then made him get up.” Of course Rhode wanted an official answer before standing up, “umm you haven’t said yes?” Amber of course said “yes!”
Amber knew that her wedding day would be amazing, because as she explained it “no matter what happens I will have my family and best friends with me so it will be perfect!” I loved that our day started off and centered around this impactful message. Amber and Rhode truly were an amazing couple who enjoyed every moment of their big day, because they kept the focus on the two the love shared.
Our day started off capturing Amber’s details along with a few adorable shots of her and her girls in their custom embroidered jean button downs before getting in her dress. Rhode was getting ready elsewhere and upon arriving we grabbed a few quick shots of him and his guys playing Texas Holdem along with suiting up.
A first look followed with the couple seeing one another underneath a 30-year-old oak tree canopy. It was the perfect spot with the perfect amount of shade and beautiful dappled light that fell gently on Amber as she walked up to Rhode. First looks are filled with so much emotion from excitement to nervousness. Rhode was definitely a mix of both and it was so exciting to see the love in his eyes when he turned to Amber.
Our non-traditional timeline was followed by wedding party and family portraits so our sweethearts could enjoy their cocktail hour later that night. Heading back up to get ready for their ceremony, we found out that their grandfather was officiating the wedding. The symbolic love of a grandfather marrying his granddaughter was so beautiful and so precious to be able to share such a special moment. With vows read and a first kiss shared, the two were off to enjoy their party. Wishing our darlings an amazing life together whether it be at sea or on land as the official Mr. and Mrs. McPherson!
