Florida Holiday Portraits
Heather and Mark met me out at Lake Louisa State Park with their little one Caden and pup Snuggie for formal portraits. Sweet friends of mine, I was overjoyed when Heather asked me to capture their holiday portraits again this year. What has now become an annual tradition, it is always great catching up and seeing how much Caden has grown.
Family Traditions
Speaking of annual traditions, the Gonzalez family have a few of their own for the holiday season. Typically visiting Mark’s family in Vero Beach and afterwards Heather’s family in West Palm Beach for Three King’s Day, they enjoy being surrounded by their loved ones. As Mark explains, “we both have huge families, so we always have a great time when our families get together.”
Caden is one lucky little boy to have such caring parents that not only make sure he gets to see all of his family, but also enjoys a few family traditions of just the him and his mommy and daddy. Every Christmas season, Heather and Mark take Caden to see the Christmas lights. A joyful time, he is becoming more and more excited to see the beautiful flickering lights in a variety of colors on the homes they visit.
Planning for the Holidays
Planning for family portraits can be stressful, but Heather shared a few key tips for making a smooth session possible: “if you are able to choose a time, pick a time when you know your child is at their best (morning, after nap, etc.). I would also say that most important don’t have high expectations of younger children. If you get a couple good pictures, than it’s worth it!” She also explained that by going with the flow and following your child’s lead it will help in keeping them happier for longer. Of and of course, I can’t forget her other tidbit of advice, “reward them with ice cream or a special treat at the end” haha – love it!
Wishing the Gonzalez family and all of our Corner House Photography families a beautiful holiday season!
