Oakland Engagement
Katie and Matt met me out in downtown Oakland for their gorgeous sunrise engagement session. It was so incredible to be back to photographing our sweet couples, and of course always a treat being at a new location too!
Having met online on Bumble, Katie recalls that she ‘swiped right’ when reading the last line in Matt’s bio, “all I really want in life is an outdoor kitchen.” The romance hahaha, but what it truly meant was Matt wanted a future with someone in that outdoor kitchen, and so did Katie. Katie was living in Clermont at the time, and Matt was living in Orlando. Deciding to meet up for their first in-person date, the two picked Crooked Can in Winter Garden. Three year later, they moved in down the road together and enjoy visiting where it all began.
Unconditionally loving Katie, Matt has stayed by her side during challenging times. Diagnosed with breast cancer, he supported her through the unknown and truly as Katie explained, Matt “never once let me feel scared or alone.” Further diving into his kindness, Matt “is such a good hearted person and is always looking out for me. He’s a pretty amazing cook, too!”
For Matt, he also loves how Katie loves him unconditionally as well. A surprise to Katie when asking him what he loved most, it was heart warming to find out that they felt exactly the same way. Matt also explained that he loves Katie’s “loving attitude towards me. Katie always shows me she loves me and cares about me.”
Engaged at home, it was the most sentimental proposal. During a morning search for a kitten to adopt, Katie had just finished filling out an adoption form when she turned to Matt to find him holding an engagement ring. The engagement ring was actually her grandmother’s ring, who was also a breast cancer survivor. Truly it was the perfect proposal with the perfect ring, and of course Katie said, “yes!”
Looking forward to capturing Katie and Matt tie the knot this coming March at the beautiful Club Lake Plantation in Apopka, Florida!
