Allison and Matt celebrated their “I do’s” with an intimate wedding elopement at the Palmetto Riverside Bed and Breakfast in Palmetto, Florida!
The Proposal
Allie and I got engaged on September 18th, 2020 in downtown Winter Park.
Leading up to the proposal, I had booked a private, sunrise balloon flight and had decided that I would propose to Allie as we were flying over Disney World as that was the spot that we had met. I had coordinated with Allie’s family so that they would meet up with us after the flight for pictures, drinks, and brunch. Later that evening I had reserved a spot at our favorite restaurant so that we could celebrate the two of us.
To make sure that Allie took the day off, and to try and surprise her, I gave her the balloon flight as an anniversary present since our anniversary was the week before. She was extremely excited for the balloon ride and didn’t suspect a thing!
The night before the proposal, I received a phone call from the balloon operator telling me that our flight had been cancelled due to bad weather. In a hurry, I changed over to my plan B, however, I realized that I had forgot to find someone to take pictures of us as I proposed! Frantically, I reached out to all of my friends to help me a photographer and thankfully, one of my good friends knew a professional photographer that was able to capture our moment, even though it was last minute!
I told Allie of the bad news that our flight was cancelled and suggested that we go to brunch the following day instead since we had both taken the day off of work.
The morning of the proposal, we went to Winter Park and I asked if she wanted to take a walk around the park downtown since we were a few minutes early for our brunch reservation. As we walked underneath the arch at the front of the garden, the spot where our photographer was hiding, I went down on one knee and asked Allie to marry me.
SHE SAID YES!!
The photographer was able to capture the whole proposal and took a photoshoot of us afterwards. We then had a special brunch to celebrate our engagement.
Later in the day, there was one more surprise left. I had told Allie that I had made reservations for dinner, but I had not told her that her family was coming into town to come to dinner with us. It worked! Allie was surprised and we were able to celebrate our engagement with her whole immediate family!
Even with the last minute change of plans, it was still the perfect day because that was the day that we agreed to spend the rest of our lives together.
