The Proposal
We became engaged on November 20, 2021.
Goose is from Illinois and every year, he and his siblings would take a picture with Santa before Christmas. After he moved back to Florida in August, 2021, he wasn’t able to take the Christmas picture with his family. So, he asked if he and I could take pictures together. At the time, I was in graduate school in Tampa and Goose planned to come visit one weekend for us to take the pictures. His roommate (now best-man) was going to be visiting friends in Tampa that weekend as well, so Goose asked him if he could take the pictures.
Goose and I got dressed up and we went to Hillsborough River State Park, which has a beautiful trail along the Hillsborough River, to take the pictures. Along the trail, we stopped a few places to take pictures and we were having a great time together. At one of the places we stopped, Goose and I stepped off the trail onto the river bank. We were about to take a picture when Goose picked me up (which I later found out he did as a cover to take the ring out of his pocket). Then, he put me down and I was getting ready to take another picture. But he was getting down on his knee to ask me to marry him. I immediately went speechless (even though I had feeling this was coming) and started shaking my head yes. I was in complete shock until he stood up, put the ring on my finger, and pulled me in for a hug – then the tears came!
(From Goose: I started to try to propose earlier by singing to her, but she got flustered and licked my face. Then I had to stop because I was laughing so hard.)
