Barn at Crescent Lake Wedding
Nicole and Joe tied the knot during their Barn at Crescent Lake wedding. A rustic, ranch style venue, it felt like perfection with the dreamiest blue sunset!
How They Met
We met through mutual friends at our church in September of 2018. Joe was sitting backstage after a rehearsal for service that weekend and Nicole was being introduced to the volunteers as a new staff member at the church. Both of us would see each other around church at different events and over time developed an interest in each other.
What They Love Most
Joe about Nicole: What I love most about Nicole is how much she cares about others, and the way she sees me. Nicole has a servant’s heart that is apparent in everything she does, from her job to the way she cooks her meals. She truly desires to show love and kindness to others so that they can be included wherever they are. She willingly bears the burdens of others so that they do not feel alone in the struggles they are in. Also, no one on this earth motivates and challenges me like her. Never would I imagine that the person I compete against the most is also the woman I get to call my wife (one day). She sees me as the man I want to be, in both good days and bad. She encourages me to seek truth, to press forward, and to fully step into the man I am called to be. Loving her makes me a better man, and I am forever grateful for the gift that she is in my life.
Nicole about Joe: What I love most about Joe is his persevering spirit and his eye for what most people would overlook. Joe just doesn’t give up. He has learned how to keep pressing forward and, along the way, he encourages others (especially me) to do the same. He is also incredibly observant. He notices the people that others pass by. He reaches out to them and lifts them up. He always strives to improve and doesn’t settle for doing things half-heartedly. He is also incredibly kind and loyal. He works so hard and is always willing to do the job no one else wants to do. He knows how to cheer me up with just a few words. And no one makes me laugh the way he does! He brings so much joy into my life, and he inspires me to be a better woman every day. I am so humbled and grateful that Joe came into my life, and I cannot wait to spend our forever together.
The Proposal
We were engaged in Starkey Park on July 26th, 2019. Joe was originally planning on taking us to the beach, a favorite of ours, to go paddle boarding and other activities. However, the weather that day really put us in a bind. Joe had the idea of going out to a book store and recreating our first date, just as a way to re-live some moments. However, once we did that, it dawned on Joe that he could walk down memory lane at different locations all the way back to Starkey park. The actual site of the proposal was significant, because after eating lunch and walking through the park back in December, before we began dating, a conversation was had and the conclusion was that neither of us wanted to date anyone if it wouldn’t potentially lead to marriage. So, just shy of 7 months later, Nicole said yes to the proposal!
