The Proposal
So this is a funny story. Six weeks before the proposal my sister was visiting from NY. We were all supposed to go and spend the day together but Lauren found out she has COVID. My sister and I decided we would still go out for the day. We went to Drive Shack first but on the way there I mentioned that we should stop at the jewelry store afterward to look at some rings. She was super excited to come with me and soon after I had purchased the perfect ring. All day, Lauren was texted me asking when I was going to be home because she needed me to help her being that she was sick. She got pretty mad that we were gone all day but there was a good reason. About two weeks after that, Lauren and I took a tip up to NY to surprise my mother for her 50th birthday. Later in the trip, we ended up going to her step-mother’s family’s lake house where I asked her father for his permission while standing next to the lake. I had no doubt that he would say yes being that I had already been part of the family for 10 years. Fast forward another 4 weeks, the ring finally came in. I had a few ideas on how I was going to propose but I knew I could not hold on to the ring for a long period of time. I know myself and Lauren to much that I would either lose the ring or she would find it somewhere. The day I picked up the ring, Lauren had suggested that we go to the beach for a night walk after I got out of work. I said to myself that this was a perfect moment. I went home, changed out of my work cloths super fast and we went to the beach. As we were about to pick a direction to go, I said to her to turn around first. She had her phone flashlight on and as she turned around it shined directly on the ring. The first thing she said was “No….. is this really happening.” As they say, the rest is history.
