Lisa and Timothy’s wedding at the Hampton Inn Jacksonville Beach was a joyful, oceanfront celebration full of color and love. With the sound of waves crashing in the background, they exchanged vows on the patio overlooking the sea, surrounded by shades of blue and purple that perfectly complemented the coastal setting. The groom and groomsmen stood out in navy vests with rich purple accents, while the bridesmaids brought a touch of soft elegance in sky-blue dresses. After their heartfelt ceremony, the newlyweds took a romantic stroll down to the beach for portraits in the golden light before heading back inside to dance the night away with their closest friends and family.
The Proposal
Finally the only way I was able to sneak in a proposal – was to do it on Friday November 24th, 2023 (Lisa’s Birthday 😉 ). I made reservations at the restaurant Azurea, at Ocean One Resort in Neptune beach. I also secretly had booked a beautiful room with a view of the ocean that she did not know about. So when I pulled in I snuck a tip to the valet and told him what was going on while she was distracted. the General Manager was also in on my little plan. I secretly packed our bags for our stay without her knowing anything. She just thought we were going out for a special Birthday dinner.
I even asked her only living biological relative – her beloved Uncle Ray for her hand in marriage. We are both adopted and our adopted parents have passed away. I found and have a relationship with my biological mother, and Lisa – her biological mother and father have both passed. But we have been on a wonderful discovery of the rest of her biological family and have been building a relationship with them over the last 5 years. So to be able to ask Uncle Ray who is now her father figure for her hand in marriage was quite special.
I got down on one knee after dinner and asked for her hand in marriage and it was very romantic and emotional. She said Yes!!! 1000% yess! LOL the staff was amazing and brought champagne on the house and set up desert for us in our room (on the sly) because she still didn’t know we were spending the night. So as we came out of the restaurant to leave – the GM surprised her and said to come right this way – and led us to our balcony room overlooking the ocean.
Desert and champagne were waiting there for us… along with rose pedals and heart shaped towel animals on the bed etc… It was a magical night. We were so giddy – we got up at super early and watched the sunrise over the ocean together – then breakfast in bed. First time.
Then the last big surprise was a full body massage for her in the spa at ocean one resort before lunch on the terrace.
Wedding Day Vision
We are both Beach People. Her happy place has always been the beach. I have always had a deep passion for the ocean and have surfed and been in the ocean since 1986. I even became a kiteboarder and kite surfer later in life and the Beach and Ocean are a special pace for both of us.
Our dream was to have a beach wedding. Authentic, somewhat formal and traditional – mixed with a cool beach vibe. i.e. My groomsmen and I are not wearing suit coats or tuxes – but blue themed vest, slacks, with light lilac shirt and darker purple lilac toned ties. Bridesmaids have a soft blue ocean inspired color scheme. tables will have sea glass and sea shells and candles. She has lots of shear soft blues and whites as our theme with sheer blue ribbons around the ceremony chairs and a white arbor with flowers and all kinds of cool stuff.
Reception is a little beach tiki bar – meets an elegant style if you will. White lights, sort of a formal beachy vibe.
