Katie and Mike tied the knot during their Imperial Golf Club wedding in beautiful Naples, Florida. A destination wedding for the two, they were surrounded by stunningly beautiful rolling hills of the golf course and summer breeze Florida has to offer.
How They Met
7 years ago Mike started working at an out-sourced sales company in Evanston, IL that Katie had been working at for a few months. That summer they both played on the company softball team and became fast friends which eventually led to dating.
What They Love Most About One Another
We’re both fairly laid back, but also work hard and push each other to be our best. We both love the little things like taking walks on the beach in our new town with our dog Barkley or enjoying a meal out at a new restaurant. The strength of our friendship and the support we have for each other is what makes our relationship so great and strong.
The Proposal
This is really a great story. Katie signed up to run the Paris Marathon on April 9, 2017, so Mike and Katie planned a trip to visit Paris, Switzerland and Germany for about 10 days. The day of the marathon Katie finished, but her phone had died so when she waited for Mike after the finish she couldn’t find him anywhere. Little did she know, he had planned to find her at the finish line and propose, but when he couldn’t find her, he headed back to the home they were staying at. After a few hours, Katie made it back…exhausted and sore, she mustered up the energy to go to dinner. After the meal, Katie and Mike walked over to the Eiffel Tower to have some champagne and sit in the grass (Katie studied abroad in Paris and told Mike this had been one of her favorite things to do). They sat there for about 20 minutes, and when the lights started to sparkle, Mike asked Katie to get up to take a picture. As soon as they stood up he dropped down on one knee and said “Do you want to see something else sparkly”, and pulled a ring out of his pocket! Needless to say, it was one of the best moments!
