A beautiful sun shining day made for a gorgeous backdrop to Sara and Martin’s engagement session at Bok Tower Gardens.
How They Met
We met in October 2014 just before my younger brother- Michael’s- birthday party. Martin was actually one of my brother’s close friends (still is!). I knew the minute I saw him that I needed to be with him. The only thing I could manage to do was make fun of him immediately upon meeting him for bringing a full size suitcase for a weekend getaway…he thought it was funny, thank goodness, and within a month we were dating. Now we have been together for 6 years, and both of us have grown together through college, starting our careers, and me buying my first house.
What They Love Most
Martin has so much passion for life! He makes everything- even mundane things- exciting and fun. He is selflessly supportive, kind, loyal and trustworthy. One of my favorite things about him is how he shows he cares about me. It can be anything as small as reading a book to me, getting me medicine I need, or preparing dinner when I just don’t feel like it. I can always feel his love for me in everything he does.
Sara has a smile that lights up every room she’s in and eyes I can get lost in. She is always down to dance even if it’s silly dancing. She has a soft, angelic voice but is so confident in who she is and never falters as a person. She is one of the most organized people I’ve ever met but can still be spontaneous. She has a fantastic sense of humor and always makes me laugh, and I love that I can do the same for her. One of my favorite things is how she looks at me.
The Proposal
We got engaged on 12/06/2019 on the corner of Main & Massachusetts in our hometown. Every year around this time, Lakeland has this huge Christmas parade that is really spectacular and one of my favorite things to go see around the holidays. It’s become a family tradition for my rather large family to go together. My mom makes chili, my grandma brings cookies and hot cocoa, and my aunt goes out and secures our spot with lawn chairs and caution tape. We take it very seriously, lol. There is a small plane that displays words on the bottom of it that is somewhat of a Lakeland staple, always flying around during the Christmas parade. We were sitting watching the parade and Martin directed my attention to the plane. As it flew directly overhead I could read “Sara Harper, will you marry me?”. I looked down and there was Martin, on one knee in front of me! It was such a special moment having both of our families around us at the parade that means so much to me. I said yes, of course 🙂
