The Proposal
Kyle’s friend Sal (best man) reached out to Jess in November asking if she would help him and a few of Kyle’s friends (the rest of his groomsmen) surprise Kyle for his birthday. They wanted to travel down to Jacksonville on December 26 and stay until December 30 to spend some time with him. Jess got super excited and was more than happy to help. Little did she know that Kyle planned this whole thing out. The week before Christmas, her friend Gen reached out and wanted to get her nails done and go out for dinner and a Christmas bar. Jess didn’t think anything of it at the time. One night, Jess was texting Sal about the details of December 26 and who needed help with transportation, when Kyle got curious and asked who she was texting. Luckily Jess had already thought this may happen and had changed Sal’s name in her phone to “Stacey Mielke” (a friend of hers who was on travel with her sister, Rachel at the time). With her quick thinking and needing an excuse to drive all the way to Orlando to pick up Sal, Jess decided to tell Kyle that Stacey had text her and needed a ride from the airport because they were ending their trip early due to a family emergency. Kyle was getting suspicious and didn’t understand the logic of this since they flew out of Fort Lauderdale and had parents in Fort Myers. Either way, they finally got past that conversation. The time finally came to pick up Sal and Richie from Orlando airport and Kyle didn’t ask too many questions. This is when Jess started getting suspicious. She knew that Kyle would typically hang out at the house all day with her until she had to leave but he left as soon as she got back from the gym that morning. Jess left the house about 5 to pick the guys up at the airport. She was thinking she was going to take these friends and meet Kyle out at Margaritaville (his favorite bar) with some of the friends he said he had been hanging out with all day. He text Jess and said that Casa Marina was having a wine special so to meet there. Jess, Sal, and Richie finally got to Casa Marina and when they walked in told the front desk that we were looking for our friends who said they were in the courtyard. At this time, Jess could see Kyle’s face standing in the courtyard of Casa Marina. She told the front desk lady that our group was right there and pointed at Kyle and the lady told her that we couldn’t go out there. Jess said again that Kyle was who we were meeting and pointed again and the lady looked kind of confused. So Jess started walking toward the door for the courtyard. Richie said that he had to find the bathroom and Sal followed Jess. When Jess walked out into the courtyard she knew something was going on because she saw her friend, Gen, kneeling by the staircase with her phone pointed at Jess. Jess saw Kyle standing in the middle of the courtyard in between two flames and just kept asking, “What are you doing?” Kyle noticed that Jess wore a Hawaiian shirt from Margaritaville and even said, “Nice shirt.” Jess started walking toward him and Kyle approached her and got down on one knee and just said, “Will you marry me?” That is when the tears started. Jess said yes and all of our friends were there cheering on the rooftop and in the courtyard. Kyle surprised Jess and got all of our closest friends to travel to Jacksonville for this special moment. We all celebrated together all night and it was absolutely perfect.
Wedding Day Vision
Our vision of this day is just to truly enjoy the time with our closest friends and family. We have people traveling from all over the place (as far as Germany!) to be here for this event and we really just want to celebrate with our loved ones. We chose to have a smaller wedding so that it can be laid back and not overly stressful because this is a happy time, and we are more than excited to start this journey of life together.
