Record Shop Engagement
Jennifer and Michael met me out in Orlando at Park Ave CDs for their record shop engagement. The two had envisioned an engagement that really represented their personalities and interests. While searching through my blog, they found photos I had taken at the local shop that they visit often, and knew right away it was the perfect spot.
Meetup anyone?
My couple’s story began back in 2015 when the two joined a Meetup group for people who were new to the area to get together for dinner, coffee, and other outings. While they noticed one another right away, it wasn’t until a few meet ups later that Mike asked Jennifer out on a date since they were both very shy. Taking place on February 8th of 2015, the two enjoyed a walk around the Mount Dora Art Festival, followed by lunch, followed by amazing conversation, and followed by dinner – before they knew it their date had lasted over 10 hours! It was like they had always known one another and as Jen explained, “I knew he was someone very special at that moment because those 10 hours went by in the blink of an eye.”
Feeling like “outsiders” for most of their lives, the two bonded over their taste in music, all things nerdy and vintage, and as Mike puts it, their “unconventional sense of humor.” Truly as they explain, “what we love about each other is how we can share our love for all those things and they become fun adventures and memories.”
While the two may feel at times outsiders in the world, they found their other half who always makes them feel loved. Realizing he had found the one, Mike planned a last minute getaway surprise to Disney so Jen could attend a meet and greet, along with visiting Disneyland.
A Disney Proposal
Hardcore Disney fans, the two frequent the parks often to enjoy in the magic of the mouse. When they first started going to Disney, Mike had convinced himself that the Haunted Mansion wouldn’t be for him in regards to the fear factor. However, Jen wouldn’t have any of it and finally convinced him otherwise, which he totally realized he was mistaken once they rode the ride – he also realized at that moment he had fallen in love with Jen. When planning his proposal around their three year anniversary, he knew he wanted to incorporate the ride.
After attending their meet and greet, the two ventured out to Disneyland and spent the day enjoying the park. Waiting until dark, Mike and Jen made their way over to the Haunted Mansion, which is artistically lit up for that old New Orleans mansion vibe.
As they made their way to the front, Mike turned to Jen and asked for her hand in marriage. As he recalls, “my proposal was a little quick because I was nervous, but I managed to tell Jen how much I loved her.” Of course, Jen said, “yes.” and the two celebrated by sharing a Mickey beignets and the unfolding of Mike’s story in planning his proposal and creating a beautiful custom ring.
Park Ave CDs Engagement
Jumping back to their engagement session, the two loved the vision we created in their record shop engagement since they absolutely love music from Social Distortion to the White Stripes. With so few brick and mortar stores catering to their passion of music, Park Ave CDs has become their little secret place to enjoy. As Michael explains, “it is nice to be able to look through stacks of CDs and records, and see what new bands/music we can discover. Also, whenever there is an upcoming concert we want to go to, we always come to Park Ave CDs to buy our tickets.”
Looking forward to capturing these two tie the knot in Lake Mary, Florida at Timacuan Golf Club!
Ps. A big thank you to Shelley for allowing us to visit and take photos at Park Ave CDs!
