Shades of Green Wedding - Corner House Photography Team

Celia and John tied the knot during their Shades of Green wedding at Disney. A magical day filled with pixie dust, we loved being able to capture our sweethearts tie the knot!

How They Met

John and Celia met in the Spring of 2015, while taking Biology 202 class at The University of Chapel Hill. Celia was a sophomore and John was a junior. They became classroom acquaintances, and kept in touch briefly before John graduated. Flash forward to Spring 2017, when John had announced on Facebook he had gotten into USUHS medical school. Celia “liked” the photo, prompting John to reach out to her over Facebook, which then turned into texting. Months later, Celia agreed to go on a date with him (although she didn’t know it was a date at the time!) Their first date was at Seaboard Brewing, Taproom & Wine Bar in Matthews, NC. After that, they were hooked on each other. They spent the whole next week together, fishing, hiking, and going out in downtown Charlotte before John left for DC. Celia got into medical school in Tampa, FL 2 weeks after they started dating, and the rest is history. They have been in a long distance relationship for the past 3.5 years. They had to move their Disney wedding celebration from March 2020 to December 2020, but decided to get courthouse married anyways back in March. COVID can’t stop this love story!

The Proposal

On July 20th, 2019 at Freedom Park in Charlotte, John asked Celia to marry him, and of course, she said YES! The day was perfectly planned out. First, they had lunch at Seaboard, where they had their very first date 2 years ago. They spent the afternoon watching The Lion King in theaters, and then checked into the cutest B&B in Matthews, NC – The Lemmond House. Afterwards, they went out for a lovely dinner at the Fig Tree. All the while, Celia knew the proposal was coming at some point that weekend, but had no idea when or how he was going to ask. For dessert, John suggested they get “ice cream” in the park, since it was such a lovely night. As they were walking across the bridge in the middle of the park to get to the “ice cream stand”, they came across a beautiful area with a blanket, rose petals, and candles, and that was where John asked Celia to spend the rest of their lives together. Then, all of their friends and family surprised Celia and came out of hiding to congratulate the happy couple! Champagne was poured, toasts were given, and the couple was surrounded by so much love on their special day.
