Brittany and Caelen met us out in Downtown Tampa at the beautiful Riverwalk for their engagement! A fun, hip, vibe to the scene, we loved exploring the area and making magic of capturing their love!
How They Met
It all started in August of 2012 when Caelen first saw me playing basketball in the Mary Help of Christians Basketball gym, in Tampa, Florida. Both Caelen and I share a mutual interest for basketball being that we both have been playing from a young age. Because of that we had gained many mutual friends from it. After seeing me in the basketball gym, he reached out to a common friend to help introduce us to one another. From that moment, we instantly connected. We officially started dating on December 23rd, 2012. Our common love for basketball, family and our similar interest allowed our relationship to flourish into something beautiful. Even though we went to different high schools and colleges(I went to Rollins College and Caelen went to Ave Maria University), we still were able to always keep our relationship a priority.
What They Love Most
What I love most about Caelen is his big heart and how loving he is. He is always willing to go to extreme lengths to put a smile on my face or to make me laugh. He is sweet and an overall genuine human being. He is witty and always makes me laugh, and keeps me on my toes. He is so selfless and an all around beautiful person, inside and out.
What I love most about Brittany is she’s charismatic, thoughtful, and her smile lights up the room . Brittany is caring with a big heart and always puts others before herself. Every time I look into her eyes I fall deeper in love with her each and every day.
The Proposal
We got engaged in Amelia Island on vacation. What I thought was going to be a normal vacation weekend celebrating my sister’s birthday, turned into a beautiful engagement. Caelen and I and drove down to Amelia Island on the weekend of August 7th, 2020. We drove to the AirBnb where my parents, sister, her husband and my nephews were waiting for us. Leading up to the engagement, I did not know it was going to happen that specific weekend but, I did have a general idea it was going to happen soon (because I ask so many questions). Once we arrived, it was what seemed to be a normal celebration weekend. We went out to dinner on that Friday (the 7th) and celebrated my sister. That Saturday, we went to the beach in the morning, played various water sports and had a great time. Following that, we all went to the Airbnb to wash up and get ready for lunch. After lunch my sister and mom asked me to walk around downtown Amelia Island and shop at the various boutiques. Little did I know during that time Caelen, my dad, nephews and brother in law were decorating the Airbnb for the proposal. To add on to the excitement, Caelen’s uncles live in Jacksonville. His mom, dad, sister and grandma drove to Jacksonville and they were all waiting at the Airbnb. Once my mom, sister and I arrived back to the Airbnb, my sister had a huge grin on her face and took out her phone to start recording, and that’s when I new something special was about to happen. I opened the front door, and I saw rose petals lining the stairs and Caelen waiting with roses in his hand. I walked upstairs where all the family was waiting and that’s when he got on one knee and asked me to marry him.
A Sweet Note
Caelen and I both grew up in Tampa, Florida and shared such a strong passion for basketball. Caelen and I started dating December 23rd of 2012. He went to Lennard High School and I to Tampa Catholic High school. He and I both played college basketball at our respective schools. Not only do we have an amazing relationship, but we also have such a strong friendship and level of respect for one another. We are best friends and enjoy experiencing life together.
