How They Met
Jason and I met using Tinder. We communicated for several weeks until we decided to meet in person for the first time. Jason chose to go Dave and Buster’s and things did not turn out as expected. After searching for parking for more than 10 minutes we decided to improvise and get what ever else was not as busy or accessible. We decided on sushi and chatted and got to know each other better. It didn’t feel like meeting a stranger for the first time but meeting up with a best friend of over 10+ years picking up right where we left off. Then moving on to Sonic drive-in where we ordered milkshakes… BEST FIRST DATE EVER
The Proposal
Jason isn’t the best at secrets so I knew the engagement was on its way but didn’t know how it was to play out. With my whole family in town, we go out the night before to dinner where my brother announces that he “got a new job and that we are going out to a restaurant tomorrow to celebrate”. I had my doubts if we were really going to celebrate his new job or if it was something more. On the fence and wanting more information, when Jason and I were alone I became frustrated and started to cry thinking the engagement wasn’t going to happen this weekend and like a 5 year old crying over a lollipop that fell on the floor I said “this is the perfect time for you to proposal because my WHOLE family is in town”, Jason kept his cool and reminded me that it’ll happen when it happens and it’ll be perfect. Fast forward to the next day, everyone was acting very strange but I didn’t put much thought into it because if it didn’t happen this weekend, I was going to be bummed out that I hyped myself up over nothing. We started to get ready to head to the restaurant but had to stop at Jason’s house so he can get ready. We start to drive and get into the WORST traffic, almost as bad as 1-4 on a Monday at 5 P.M. Jason, as talkative as his is became SILENT thinking we were going to be late to our engagement. Fast forward in the quietest car ride I have experienced with him after 2 years of dating, we get to his house, he changes, and we are on our way to the “restaurant”. We drive to Cypress Grove park and butterflies start to bubble in my stomach, we park and Jason said “we are at the restaurant” with the biggest grin on his face. We walk out and start walking in the park, down the sidewalk to a gazebo where there was a sign that said “Marry Me” candles and a bouquet of roses on the floor. I was a mess and started to cry. Jason picked up the flowers and handed it off to me and I couldn’t contain my excitement I looked at him and said “show me the baby”. Both giggling, he got on one knee, presented the GORGEOUS ring and with the biggest grin on his face said “Will you marry me?” I said yes of course! My brothers then came out, one recording and one with champagne, we toasted and headed to a restaurant to celebrate our engagement with our family.
What They Love About Each Other
We love how we both have an unspoken bond. We are able to enjoy each other’s company without needing too much to do, communicate with expressions, both have great minds that think extremely alike.
