The Mulberry Wedding in New Smyrna Beach
Nicole and Phillip tied the knot at The Mulberry in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. A Florida style plantation, we loved the tropical vibe woodsy vibe for our sweetheart’s ceremony space outside and indoor rustic white barn.
First Date at Fiddler’s on the Green
Back in May of 2015, the two first connected on Hinge, a dating app, before meeting in person or their first date at Fiddler’s on the Green in Winter Park. Dinner was followed by grabbing drinks at Luma on Park Ave in Winter Park as well, as the two didn’t want the night to end so soon. Chatting late into closing, they realized that had made a special connection.
Rockefeller Center Proposal
After dating for a few years, Phillip knew it was the right time to propose and did so on December 14th of 2017. While on a little mini-vaca getaway to the big apple, the two decided to enjoy the Christmas lights and decor the city had to offer. Making their way through the downtown streets and finally to Rockefeller Center, they stopped to admire the stunning Christmas Tree by the ice skating rink. Asking Nicole to take a picture with him, he surprised her by dropping to one knee and proposing! Of course, Nicole said, “yes!”
Wedding Day at The Mulberry in New Smyrna Beach
Envisioning a rustic and elegant day, Nicole and Phillip’s wedding was perfectly aligned to their wedding day vision. Arriving a bit early, we started off with our bride’s details and robe shots. I must say that I loved the cotton robes Nicole picked for her girls with delicate lace trim on the cuffs. Before heading to Phillip and his guys, who we gave a moment to eat some pizza, we captured Nicole opening a letter from him. A sentimental and VERY emotional moment, it was hard to hold back the tears as we watched Nicole read the letter.
Phillip and his guys were definitely a fun bunch to capture in the groom’s suite above the barn. From capturing suiting up to individual shots with our groom, we had a blast laughing along with our guys. Back in the bride’s suite, we captured Nicole’s mother helping her put on her dress, some adorable shots of Nicole with her flower girl, and of course super fun shots with Nicole and her girls before heading back outside to set up our groom for our couple’s first look.
Cool, calm, and collected, Phillip was definitely ready to see Nicole! Walking up to him with the biggest smile, I just loved being able to capture the moment he turned around to see her. After a moment together and a few newlywed portraits, we brought out our bridal party and family over for formal portraits. Before long it was time to hide our couple and prepare for their ceremony procession.
Taking place under a grand oak tree, the two shared vows and a ‘unity beer’ before sealing the deal with a kiss. While there were definitely some silly moments, i.e. a lot of extra unexpected beer foam that Phillip so kindly drank down for Nicole, there were also many sentimental ones; one of which was Nicole’s dad tearing up as he walked her down the aisle and hugged both her and Phillip.
After Nicole and Phillip’s ceremony, their officiant swung back by with our couple’s maid of honor and best man to sign the marriage license before we headed off to the woodsy area behind their ceremony for a few additional newlywed portraits. Utilizing a few back areas that felt like they led to a secret garden, we made use of the dark lush forest greenery that definitely made Nicole’s dress pop against the contrast.
Reception entrances took place with our couple entering through the grand wooden barn doors and diving into formal dances afterwards. Toasts, a cake cutting, and some pretty killer dubstep filled the night along with some throwback songs too. Ending the night with a sparkler send off, we were waived our couple off as officially Mr. and Mrs.!
