Wedding Bouquets & Boutonnières
For this month’s bridal tips, we are chatting about bouquets and boutonnières. One of our favorite details for the big day, we love capturing the customized bouquets that range from classic roses to modern succulents, along with complementing boutonnières.
1. The Classic
A timeless option, roses never fall out of style. For my couple Dinara and Rick, the two opted for classic white roses surrounded by baby’s breath. The classic floral complemented the stunning artwork that was used as the backdrop for so many of their gorgeous newlywed portraits at their wedding venue, the St Pete Fine Arts Museum.
2. Pops of Color
Alex surprised us with a pop of color for her bouquet, florals throughout, and of course Shane’s boutonnière. I love when my couples are daring with their color choices and create a vibrant palette, which can definitely be hard to pull off. Carefully aligning all of their floral to flow together from the ceremony to reception, the in-between pieces tying their color scheme all together came from the bridal party’s bouquets and boutonnières. Pops of orange, hot pink, deep wine, and pastel pink came together to create the most stunning floral pieces. And by the way, for some reason her floral just shouts “Florida” to me – love, love, love the orange! (Floral by GrandEOS Events)
3. Grand Scale
A little unknown fact, bouquets are heavy! However, they are totally worth the workout to hold. I personally LOVE large bouquets, as florists tend to really input their style when having a larger canvas to work with. Traci’s bouquet was definitely a work of art and by no means light weight. 4. Paper
A modern twist, paper bouquets have definitely become more and more popular. My bride Meg’s bouquet is definitely one of my top fav paper bouquets that we have had so far! The reason being, she not only DIY’d the bouquet herself, but also styled it around the theme for their big day – you guessed it, superheros and comic books; which by the way was a throwback to their first date.
5. Simple Elegance
Charlie went for a more simplistic style with an elegant calla lily for both her and her bridesmaids. Gary followed suit with an elegant calla lily that was slightly smaller than the girl’s bouquets for both him and his groomsmen’s boutonnière. The simple elegant stye of their floral worked so beautifully with their traditional church ceremony. (Floral by Dianne Samples)
6. Succulents
Succulents have definitely been up and coming in the floral world for bouquets and boutonnières. Jumping back a few years, I just had to share Katie and Kyle’s succulent inspired florals. Mixing in light pastel purple with an array of succulents, Katie’s bouquet was absolutely fantastic. Matching her bouquet, Kyle opted for a smaller succulent boutonnière. (Floral by Bluegrass Chic)
With floral being such an intricate part of your wedding day details, design your pieces around your dress, wedding color scheme, and style of venue – of and of course, first and foremost, whatever yours type might be, make it your own!
