Courtyard at Lake Lucerne Wedding
Veronica and Stephen tied the knot during their Courtyard at Lake Lucerne wedding in Orlando, Florida. Right in the middle of downtown Orlando, you can find the historic set of homes along a cobblestone road. Between the perfect location and vintage style, Veronica and Stephen just knew that they had to have their wedding at the venue.
How They Met
Veronica: Stephen and I met on Match – he messaged me first and a couple days later on March 2, 2017, we met for dinner at Bulla in Winter Park. We talked, ate tapas, and had a couple cocktails. After dinner, he walked me to my car and we hugged. Then a couple days after our first date, we met for drinks at the Imperial in downtown Sanford where we had some drinks. After we finished our drinks, we walked around and sat on a bench overlooking a very “romantic” vacant lot where we shared our first kiss. Since then we haven’t been apart.
Stephen: We met on Match.com (and should be featured on their TV commercials as we’re picture perfect). It was probably around the last day in February 2017 when I first sent Veronica a message, as our first date was on March 2nd, 2017. We chatted on the phone once before our first date. I recall the phone call was after she got out of Zumba one night, and I made a joke about Zumba sounding like it was the name of a character in Lion King. Our first date was at Bulla in Winter Park. It was such a lovely time. I remember pretty much everything about that evening. I get emotional just thinking about it, because I didn’t realize at the time (I only had what I considered to be a “fools hope”) that it would be the start of the happiest days of my life.
What They Love Most About One Another
Veronica: I love how kind and positive he is. No matter how bad my day is, whenever I’m with him it all melts away. I also love how close he is with his family because I’m really close to mine. I knew Stephen was the one because he inspires me to be the best version of myself. He’s always so supportive and he makes me feel like we can take on the world together.
Stephe: I’m not capable of putting into words a sufficient blurb to describe what I love most about Veronica. I tell her all the time that she is AMAZING as a catch-all for my lack of sufficient descriptive powers. She is so kind-hearted, sweet, and affectionate. I think that I’m also affectionate, so I love that she allows me to be affectionate towards her without tiring of it. She is easy going and has a fantastic sense of humor and isn’t grossed out by my often childish sense of humor. Her smile and eyes never fail to fill my soul with love and make me smile. The list of things that I love about my little Veronica stretches to infinity.
The Proposal
Veronica: It was the Friday before Christmas and I had just gotten off from work. He had asked me if I wanted to go out for dinner and we decided to go to Fuel, a new BBQ place in downtown Sanford we had been wanting to try. The food was delicious! After stuffing ourselves on BBQ, we went over to Imperial for a drink (it was also the place where we had our second date). After drinking our cocktails, we decided to walk by the waterfront. I was surprised Stephen suggested a walk because it was a chilly night and he doesn’t like the cold but I didn’t think much of it. When we got there, our usual bench was taken and Stephen seemed bothered by it. Again, I didn’t think much of it and suggested a different bench. We sat there for a while looking at Lake Monroe, talking, and cuddling to stay warm. Stephen then got on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. I was so shocked that I asked him, “Are you serious?” I then came to my senses realizing that he was serious and said, “Of course!”
Stephen: I did not search long for a ring, but I searched wide. I knew what sort of ring I wanted for her, as it had to be unique and not merely sparkly, but artistically beautiful. I knew that I wanted to propose to her before Christmas and New Year’s. Just a day or two after I got the ring, I proposed to her. We went to a bar in downtown Sanford called The Imperial (where our second date was). Afterward, we strolled over to the waterfront. I wanted to sit in a swing that overlooks the water, but unfortunately someone was sitting on it (which greatly annoyed me—the jerk!). So, I improvised and we sat on a bench that also overlooked the river. After a minute or two, I got on one knee as Veronica was on the bench. I told her that I loved her so much and “that’s why I want you to marry me.” She was stunned for a few seconds after I said that and simultaneously produced a ring. After Veronica composed herself she said, “Yes, of course.” I proceeded to put the ring on the incorrect hand, and we lived happily ever after.
