You may remember my gorgeous friend Christina’s maternity session among the wildflowers in Baldwin Park that I posted about a month ago. Christina had modeled for me so that I could show other mommies to be possibly ideas for their session. After our shoot, she had asked me if we could do a second shoot with her and her amazing man Radhames. Of course, I said yes and couldn’t wait to photograph my sweet friends.
Christina had wanted to wait until she was a little further along so her bump would really ‘pop’ in the photos. She had pitched the idea of a sunset shoot that incorporated black and white photography along with rays of light coming in from golden hour. I really wanted to do something a little different for our shoot in regards to location. For several years now, I have want to photograph in a nearby nursery to my home. It is incredibly magical, rustic, and had some really neat spots for photos.
Our session started off in the middle of the woods that lead to the entrance of the nursery. I loved catching the light as it trickled through the trees down onto my couple. You will notice some lens flare, little trickles of light, throughout the photo that come from photographing the sun straight on. I love how it adds to the whimsy of the photos. After spending some time in the woods, we headed into the nursery to grab shots among the foliage. Nearby was a beautiful pink floral bush that climbed up a building. It was the perfect spot for more vibrant photos and a great contrast to the beautiful greens from the previous shots we had grabbed.
Wishing my sweet friends a healthy and happy birth. I can’t wait to meet their little one 🙂
