Alexandra & Shane’s Morning Light Engagement

Downtown Winter Garden Engagement

Downtown Winter Garden is by far one of my favorite places to visit!  When Alexandra and Shane asked to have their session in the little historic downtown, I just knew a sunrise session would be perfect!  Quiet as can be, we felt like we owned the town with no one around as the sun rose up and the morning light flooded in.

How They Met

Graduates at UCF in Industrial/Organization (I/O) Psychology, the two first met in their program and quickly became close friends.  With only 14 in their class, the two shared many courses together and of course spent time studying outside of class together as well.  Over the next year, the two also decided to study abroad in Russia in May of 2014.  Spending so much time together, they realized that their friendship was more than just friendship, as their feelings evolved into more.  Arriving back in the states, the two went on their ‘first date’ to see Godzilla at the local movie theater, and have been together ever since!

What They Love Most

Alex fell in love the way Shane cares about her, as he genuinely wants to her be happy.  As she explains, “he can tell when I’ve had a hard day or when I may be frustrated with something, and he always offers to help and tries to make me laugh.”  It is the way he helps her in ‘not sweating the little things,’ that has helped her become a better version of herself.

Shane fell in love with the way Alex is always put their relationship and family first.  Alex cares deeply for Shane, their pup Annie, their friends, and their family.  As Shane explains, Alex “she is always willing to help anyone to make their life easier.”

The Proposal

The month of May has become a truly special month for Shane and Alex.  It was the month when they first began to realize the love they shared and the month that they both celebrate their May birthdays.  In turn, the two always plan out a little getaway for themselves to enjoy one another.  Planning out a trip to Vero Beach, the two stayed at a hotel on the beach to relax and celebrate at.  Asking Alex to join him for a morning walk at sunrise on the beach, she didn’t even notice him fumbling with the ring box to put it in his pocket as they headed out.  After sitting down to watch the sunrise, Shane asked Alex to stand up, as he went onto one and asked her to marry him.  Of course, Alex said “yes” after also of course crying happy tears of joy.  It was absolutely perfect, intimate, and completely the two of them.  Now, one more special moment to add to the May calendar, the two have yet another reason to celebrate!

Wedding Day Advice

With their wedding day less than a year out in March of next year, the two have found that they both agree on their best piece of wedding advice – “marry your best friend.”  As they explain, “you’ll have plenty of laughs and great company for the rest of your life!”

Looking forward to capturing Alex and Shane tie the knot this March at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress!
