Kelly and Boris met me out at one of the quintessential Orlando parks, Dickson Azalea, for their gorgeous souther charm engagement. With it being their last week in Florida before moving to North Carolina, it was so great to meet our sweethearts before their big day.
Destined for love does not begin to explain how much fate had a hand in Kelly and Boris being meant for one another. The two have been friends since childhood, when they met back in second grade at Hobe Sound Elementary. From playing on the playground as kids to reconnecting as adults sharing beautiful adventures together, their love has been endless and deep rooted through their friendship.
Boris fell in love with Kelly back in high school, but it wasn’t until after that their relationship began. Kelly reminisced during our engagement session that she had even turned him down for prom, but of course he grew on her quite a bit over time. Kelly’s bright smile and warm heart, along with always willing to go the extra mile for Boris, are the characteristics he fell in love with. For Kelly, she fell in love with how “loyal, trustworthy, and kind Boris is” from the way he cares about their relationship to his country.
Boris’ proposal to Kelly completely surprised her, which is hard to do! Late night walks on the beach together are one of their favorite things to do together, so when he asked her to go with him before his mom’s birthday dinner that night, Kelly thought of it being nothing out of their norm. Walking along the beach they stumbled upon a little pile of seashells with a small American flag placed upright in the center. Boris being curious, or so Kelly thought, knelt down to move the shells aside. Kelly of course was a little confused and told him to leave the little shells alone since it was so cute, but quickly realized what laid below the sand. As the sand cleared, a ring box emerged and that was when Kelly realized (finally!) what was about to happen. Turning to Kelly, Boris asked for her hand in marriage (twice – she was really in shock!), which of course Kelly said, “yes!!!”
Kelly’s sister Laurie, Boris’ sister Camille, and there best friend Mason who were also just as hidden as the ring box, came out from the sand dunes cheering and taking pictures of the beautiful moment. Celebrating dinner with both of their families afterwards, it could not have been a more perfect engagement.
Love is a balance of communication and agreement. Kelly recommended to me that her best piece of advice for other couples planning to their big day would be to keep communication and agreement at the heart of their decisions. Always trust in what you both want to find a common ground that you both will agree upon.
