Becky Rector and Skip Straton met me out at the historic Henry Plant Museum in Tampa, Florida for their sweet engagement session. For Becky and Skip, their engagement session was a “first,” which has been nice to share many “firsts” together as they plan for their special day.
Skip and Becky actually met online through Yahoo Personals. Becky had first passed up on Skip as he had two girl friends next to him in his class reunion picture, but after he “nudged” her online she responded. Chatting online the two hit it off right away, but it was a while before they finally met in person over dinner. Their common likes were overwhelming from their love of sports to hobbies in high school. Becky let me know that they “often joke about how the jock and the cheerleader finally ended up together.” Skip followed their first dinner date out with a sweet dinner date in. Putting together an amazing jambalaya that he cooked himself, Becky knew there and then that there was something special about him.
Through Skip’s supportive nature and willingness to help, he has truly won the heart of Becky. As she explains it, “he is thoughtful and actually cares about what I think. He never allows me to carry shopping bags and treats me like a princess.” Through the good times and the rough times, Skip has been there every step of the way. When Becky lost her mother, it was a very difficult time that Skip helped her get through. Lovingly holding her hand and sharing sweet kisses, it was clear to see that Skip was in love.
Becky’s support and interest in their relationship has been the foundation for the building of Skip’s love for her. She makes the time to spend time together and is always willing to try out new things from sports to movies. As Skip describes it, “spending time together is not a chore and something we thoroughly enjoy. Even when we have time apart we wish we were doing whatever it might be together.”
True to fashion, the two were spending time with one another when the idea of a proposal occurred – well more of the idea of the ring. While Skip was checking out watches in a jewelry store they were visiting, Becky walked by the engagement rings. Eyeing a few that she liked, she never thought it would be an option since they had both been married before. Skip seeing Becky at the jewelry case, he walked over to her to ask if she liked any. Of course she did, but didn’t mention it. After a little pushing and a few more asks, she pointed to her favorite and Skip said they should purchase it. In complete shock, Skip purchased the ring and right there in the beautiful jewelry store a beautiful future began.
Truly, love does not a have a timeframe. When the right one comes along, you will know it. Never give up on love and never hold back, because one day a love like Becky and Skip’s just might come your way!
Looking forward to our team capturing these two tie the knot at the beautiful Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort!
