Mariya & Michael’s Women’s Club Wedding – Captured by Jacob

Mariya and Michael had a traditional Catholic wedding at Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Once they tied the knot, they had a fun reception at the Women’s Club of Winter Park!

The Proposal

We got engaged on January 8, 2020. The day before we went to a dog shelter and met with two dogs for potential adoption. On January 8, Michael was going to pick up Peanut Butter, the dog we wanted to adopt, but he said that there was an issue with paperwork and that we needed to wait an extra day before we could pick up the dog. He told Mariya to meet him on one side of the Tidal Basin, however, she decided to ignore his directions and went in the wrong direction. Because it was a cold day, her phone kept dying and she couldn’t figure out where Michael was. Finally, he told her to go to the Jefferson memorial and stay there because he would come to her. He did come. He came with a photographer, a newly adopted Peanut Butter, and a ring box. Unfortunately, Peanut Butter did really understand what was going on, so when Michael got on one knee that seemed like the perfect time to jump on top of Michael and bring him to the ground. Luckily, all of this was captured on camera.

Wedding Vision

We don’t really have a theme. The color scheme is dusty blue and gold, and the centerpieces are books, so it’s kind of an academic especially given the venue. At the end of the day, to us, this is just a party celebrating our union with all of our friends that tries to incorporate both of our cultures as much as we can.
